Service with a Smile sponsored by Domino's Pizza

Winner Denise Niel, MK Money Lifeline

There are many reasons people can end up in financial difficulties. When it comes to dealing with debt, money management advice can be very helpful, and also budgeting skills, however MK Money Lifeline looks at the whole situation and sometimes people need help with doctor’s appointments, visits to the job Centre, the council office, or need a food parcel picked up from the Food Bank.

Denise is the one that do all these things; she is the one that make MKML the service it is. She is only paid for 8 hours/week, but she is not just working one day a week, you can see her there at least 4 days week.

She loves her job and most of all she loves to see people’s situations change from chaos tom organisation. As a colleague to Denise I say MKML would not be what it is without Denise

Young Achiever of the Year sponsored by Marshalls Amplications Ltd

Winner Cameron Millar

Cameron Aged 10 is an amazing individual not only because of his fundraising, but because he has contracted and fought meningitis not once, but twice in his life. To give you an idea of how rare that is, the odds of catching the infection just once is one in 33,000. It was after this second stay in hospital that Cameron decided he would do some fundraising for the children’s ward appeal – Leo’s Appeal – which is raising funds for children at the hospital. He said although the care was brilliant, there wasn’t a great deal to do during his stay –

So he decided to do a 5k walk to raise funds for more play equipment for the ward. The 5k walk took place only six weeks after he was discharged from hospital. It was a struggle – he had stomach pains throughout but showed exemplary bravery and courage by carrying on and completing the walk. He raised £850 that funded two televisions with built-in DVD players

Cameron, from just outside Milton Keynes is an inspiration to young people everywhere. He overcame a terrifying illness and his first thought was to make things better for other children at the MK Hospital where he received his treatment

Making Milton Keynes Safer sponsored by Safer MK

Winner Terry and Julie Baines, FRA

Terry and Julie are both very hard working people who really take massive pride in there community, Terry works full time and still finds time to work and run the Fishermead residents association with his wife Julie.

Julie spends a lot of time door knocking and delivering leaflets to encourage residents to attend monthly meetings and to keep local residents in the loop and how to maintain a positive vibe out on the estate.

The key points are helping keep the estate clean and tidy working with Serco MKC contractors, residents, local schools, and Parish Council, also lots of hard work goes into the summer fun day for all the residents to attend, and the Christmas fair lots of fun for the local young children. Without Terry and Julie's efforts Fishermead would be a lot worse for wear, we need people like this to uplift peoples spirits
