Nominate a special achiever you know for an award in this year's Northants county education awar

The Chronicle & Echo and Northamptonshire Telegraph Education Awards in conjunction with the Northamptonshire County Council Youth Ambition Awards 2015

The Chron’s annual search to find and recognise the county’s top teachers, inspirational leaders and high achievers is under way.

We have teamed up with our sister paper the Northants Telegraph and Northamptonshire County Council to celebrate the young people, their teachers and young apprentices who do great work without getting the headlines.

We want to hear from readers, teachers, pupils, group leaders and parents or guardians who want to nominate an individual, group or school who they feel deserves an award for their achievements.

It could be the dinner lady who goes the extra mile, the classroom assistant who makes lessons come alive or the individual who has exceeded all expectations with their achievements.

If you know someone who fits the bill, we would love to hear from you.

Chron editor David Summers said: “This is a great way to highlight the success of children and schools across the county who are working hard and doing great things, and to give them the recognition they deserve.”

Categories include inspirational teacher of the year, unsung hero, special school of the year and the community award.

A panel of education experts will decide on each winner before they are revealed at an awards night at Wicksteed Pavilion in Kettering from 6.30pm on July 8.

The awards will be celebrated alongside the Youth Ambition Awards, organised by Northamptonshire County Council to recognise the achievements of the county’s young people.

Categories include young apprentice of the year, the arts award, project or campaign of the year and young role model of the year.

Alex Hopkins, county council director of children, families and education, said: “I would encourage anyone who knows a child or teenager who they think deserves recognition for something they are doing in their school, community, home or working life to get in touch and nominate them for an award.”

The education awards have been sponsored by the University of Northampton.

A prize of £1,000 will be presented to the educational establishment that wins the University of Northampton Changemaker Award 2015.
